Supporting Student Parents Every Step of the Way

If you are expecting a baby, parenting a young child, or balancing college while raising a family, the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Program may be able to help.

CCAMPIS is a federally funded program through the U.S. Department of Education that helps eligible student parents reduce the cost of child care so they can remain enrolled, persist through challenges, and successfully complete their college degree.

At North Central Michigan College, we understand the unique responsibilities of parenting while attending college. Our goal is to remove barriers, connect you with resources, and support the success of your entire family.

CCAMPIS Can Help You...

  • Pay 70–100% of eligible child care costs through approved licensed providers
  • Connect with licensed child care options in your community
  • Navigate the Michigan Child Development and Care (CDC) Program
  • Develop a plan for balancing school, work, and family responsibilities
  • Access campus and community resources
  • Connect with your Student Parent Advisor for individualized support throughout your educational journey

Program Eligibility

To qualify for CCAMPIS, students must:

  • Be the parent or legal guardian of a child requiring child care
  • Be enrolled in a degree-seeking program at North Central Michigan College
  • Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Be receiving or eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-resident with an F-1 or J-1 visa

  • Apply for the Michigan Child Development and Care (CDC) Program through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) each semester and provide documentation of approval or denial

Students who do not currently have licensed child care are encouraged to apply. Your Student Parent Advisor can assist you in identifying licensed providers in your community.
