Apply for an EMS Workforce Scholarship.
For the Winter 2025 semester, North Central Michigan College is offering EMS-Paramedic Scholarships funded by a grant from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
The limited-time grant provides $353,000 in scholarships for students enrolled in North Central's EMT and Paramedic programs.
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
Students must meet the following eligibility requirements to qualify for the EMS Workforce Scholarship:
- Must live within the 13-county service area:
- Alcona, Alpena, Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Crawford, Emmet, Kalkaska, Mackinaw, Montmorency, Oscoda, Otsego, or Presque Isle counties
- Complete the most current FAFSA
- Complete and pass a backrgound check
Scholarships will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis based on completion and eligiblity requirements being met.
Scholarship Application Instructions
Follow these steps to apply for an EMS Workforce Scholarship:
Step 1: Apply for Admission to North Central Michigan College.
Step 2: Paramedic students only: Apply to the Paramedic program from the NC portal.
Applications for the Paramedic program must be submitted by November 15 of the year of the anticipated Winter semester entry. There is no waitlist for the Paramedic program. Applicants who are not admitted to the program must re-apply.
North Central students* can apply to the Paramedic program from the NC Portal:

- Log in to the portal.
- Select "My North Central."
- Select the "Admissions" tab.
- Select the Health Science application.
- Select EMS/Paramedic (one-year cert) or EMS/Paramedic (two-year associate degree) in Section 3.

*Prospective students must first complete North Central's general admission application before applying to the Paramedic program.
