Caleb Migda chose North Central Michigan College in 2013, drawn by its affordability, location, and strong reputation for preparing students for healthcare careers. He enrolled in the college’s nursing program and graduated in 2016 with an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing — a degree that launched a journey leading to a BSN, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), and a rewarding career in healthcare leadership.

Migda credits North Central’s rigorous nursing curriculum with preparing him for the realities of patient care. Scholarships also played a vital role in supporting his goals. The Borra Scholarship helped ease the financial burden of nursing school, allowing him to balance academic demands with family responsibilities. Additional support, including grants from McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital, enabled him to earn his BSN from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2019.

He began his nursing career at McLaren on the medical-surgical unit, where his commitment to high-quality patient care earned him numerous honors, including the DAISY Award, Nightingale Award, and McLaren’s Guardian Angel Award. In 2023, with continued support from McLaren, Migda completed his DNP, focusing his research on integrating point-of-care ultrasound technology into primary care settings.

Today, he serves as a nurse practitioner with McLaren’s hospitalist group, applying his advanced training to improve patient outcomes and lead innovation in care delivery.

Migda was also featured in the Spring/Summer 2025 issue of Aspire magazine. Read the inspiring story of how he advanced from RN to DNP and built a successful career in healthcare leadership.
