North Central Michigan College (NCMC) is offering free virtual Michigan Reconnect lunch sessions throughout the summer for adult learners age 25 and older who are interested in starting or finishing an associate degree or skills certificate. Eligible students may qualify for a Michigan Reconnect scholarship to help cover tuition costs.
The virtual lunch sessions will be held at noon on the following dates:
- June 23
- July 15
- July 29
- Aug. 11
- Aug. 26
Individuals interested in attending are encouraged to register in advance. A link to join the virtual session will be sent the day before the event.
Michigan Reconnect is a state scholarship program that covers the remaining balance of in-district tuition and mandatory fees after other federal and state financial aid has been applied. Students attending an out-of-district community college receive a substantial tuition discount. The program is designed for eligible adults who want to start or finish an associate degree or skills certificate. To qualify for Michigan Reconnect, applicants must:
- Be at least 25 years old when they apply
- Have lived in Michigan for one year or longer
- Have a high school diploma, GED, or certificate of completion
- Not have previously earned an associate or bachelor’s degree
Katie Navock, vice president for enrollment management, said Michigan Reconnect continues to create opportunities for adults who may have thought college was out of reach.
“Michigan Reconnect is a tremendous opportunity for adults who want to advance their education and increase their earning potential without the burden of student debt,” Navock said. “North Central is proud to support adult learners in our community by providing the resources, guidance, and educational opportunities they need to succeed.”
