Criminal Justice — Associate of Arts Concentration:

MTA APPROVED

The Associate of Arts Concentration in Criminal Justice is designed for students who want a cost-effective path to a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related fields. This program lays the groundwork for advanced study by providing a comprehensive foundation in key areas of criminal justice, including law enforcement, criminal law, and the judicial system.

This program meets Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) requirements, which guarantees your North Central credits will transfer seamlessly to participating partner universities statewide.

Criminal Justice — Associate of Applied Science:

The Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice is designed for career readiness, focused on efficiently equipping students with the practical skills and knowledge needed for entry-level positions in law enforcement, security, corrections, and related fields. Emphasizing hands-on, practical training, the program prepares graduates for immediate entry into the workforce by providing the skills necessary to meet the demands of the criminal justice field.

Criminal Justice - Law Enforcement (Kirtland Community College) — Associate of Applied Science:

This program provides students the opportunity to attend a state-certified police academy and graduate from North Central with an Associate of Applied Science degree and Michigan Council of Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) certification. Students attend North Central for approximately three semesters before entering the Kirtland Regional Police Academy in Grayling to complete their training.

Criminal Justice - Law Enforcement (Northwestern Michigan College) — Associate of Applied Science:

This program provides students the opportunity to attend a state-certified police academy and graduate from North Central with an Associate of Applied Science degree and Michigan Council of Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) certification. Students attend North Central for half of the program before completing their coursework at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City.

Law Enforcement Aide — Certificate:

The Law Enforcement Aide program is tailored to prepare individuals for roles that provide essential support to law enforcement agencies. While not comprehensive police training, this program equips students with the fundamental understanding of law enforcement procedures and the skills necessary to assist officers in various capacities.

Corrections (State) — Certificate of Development:

This 17-credit hour program provides students with the minimum academic credits* necessary for employment as a Corrections Officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC). Coursework covers the fundamental procedures and protocols within state correctional facilities, including inmate management, security measures, and facility operations.
